Overview of MPLS VPNs with Juniper Networks

MPLS is one of the essential topics of JNCIP and JNCIE SP exams; in addition, MPLS VPNs are widely used in Service Provider Networks.

Understanding the different MPLS VPN technologies and implementing and troubleshooting them is inevitable, especially in a Service Provider environment.

In this course, we will start with the basics of MPLS, configuring the SP Core using OSPF, ISIS, and LDP to provide the transport required for MPLS VPN Services as the Overlays.

We could use SR-MPLS or RSVP to provide the transport, but this course has other focuses.

The main focus is to go through the details of L3VPNs, talk about the MP-BGP and Service Labels, different PE-CE Routing protocols such as OSPF, IS-IS, and BGP, and Overlay Control Plane Loop Prevention with each of them.

After we made sure that you are confident enough with L3VPNs, the instructor started talking about the L2VPNs, the P2P, and MP2MP services, such as L2Circuit (xConnect), which is also called VPWS in detail, such as how Pseudowires being created and signaled using LDP.

We will extend the VPWS to EVPN and take advantage of EVPN BGP Signaling. VPLS is another vital topic; you will become familiar with Martini and Kompella VC signaling and learn about Limitations and challenges.

Another major topic is EVPN regarding MP2MP L2 Services, support for Multi-Homing in an Active-Active and Active-Standby way with the Idea of IRB to have L3 Routing in addition to L2 Bridging.

You will learn different Route-Types of EVPN in detail regarding the EVPN with MPLS Encapsulation, Route-Types Such as 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.

There are two well-designed Labs covering both Intra-AS and Inter-AS MPLS VPNs.

Those labs are EVE-NG based, and you will receive the lab files to import them to your EVE-NG Community and EVE-NG Professional.
